An Experimental Approach to Evaluate the Effect of Reinforcement Corrosion on Flexural Performance of RC Beams

The corrosion of reinforcing steel in concrete has been reported as one the main durability problems reinforced (RC) structures exposed to chloride, carbonation or both. To investigate structural performances RC subjected corrosive exposure, rebars embedded is accelerated induce a targeted degree reinforcement short time duration. Several earlier researchers have attempted develop setup bars structures. However, induced not simulative naturally occurring concrete, causing lack accuracy test results. In this study, an attempt was made novel approach that could be utilized required degrees following natural pattern. demonstrate efficacy proposed and procedure introducing uniform corrosion, beam specimens were designed, cast, corroded three different levels. After inducing beams tested under flexural stress, then extracted measure mass loss due corrosion. visual inspection gravimetric results showed capability bars, simulating real-life scenario facilitating evaluation effect on with very high accuracy.
